Shut the Box is a classic pub game, suitable for children ages 6 and up. This exciting version pits two players in a head-to-head competition.

Gameplay is simple: Players take turns rolling the dice and flipping shut numbered tiles on their side of the board that match numbers rolled (or any combination of tiles that match the sum if the dice roll). There are two ways to win the game:

1. One player is the first to flip down all the tiles WINS outright; or,

2. One player can no longer flip down tiles from their roll, so their opponent keeps rolling until they, too, can no longer flip down tiles. At that point, the sum of the remaining tiles for each player is tallied, and the lowest total WINS.

The game is constructed of solid maple with tiles made from cherry. Green felt covers the birdseye maple plywood bottom. A 1/8" steel rod securely holds the tiles in place. Laminated instructions and two sets of 16 mm dice (red and white) are included.

The sides and cross pieces are sealed with polyurethane; the tiles are unfinished.
